If so mine has never worked
Yea my 01' had an accurate gas gauge.

The check gauges light comes on in my 97 Z for low fuel. I've ran it to nearly touching E on a road trip and it didn't run out (thank god)

My "Check Gauges" light came on once because of low fuel, and I had about 3 seconds to react before the motor stopped. 5 miles before that, the gauge read 1/4 tank.

It's not the cluster, it's how the float is reading it. And yeah, at the 1/2 mark, I am 10 gallons in on mine. When it says E, it ******* well means empty. I put in 15.3 gallons when I first got it and it had just touched E.

Swerving when the needle is close to E is how I tell how much gas is in it. The more the needle moves the more gas I have.

Both of mine will go below E before running out. Not sure what else you could ask for.

Yes, it works. I filled my tank, started my car and gave it time for the sending unit to register full, then reinstalled the needle at exactly the full mark. When my car is at 1/4 tank, it takes 12 gallons of fuel. Take it from someone who has done it.

or just ever so slightly bend the float upwards. now a 1/4 tank really means i have 4 gallons left.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this!

My '94 z28 has a low fuel light. Mine also goes way past F when full and empty at E. With roughly 3-4 gallons left in the tank the gauge reads 3/4 full. I've never seen that low fuel light on, though.
