Default Since my fuel gauge needle is off could I do this?

Full it up and just pop the needle off and put it so it reads just above the F mark?

Reads 1/2 when its closer to E

Posted a thread and everyone said the gauges are messed up since the tank is funny shaped.

Pretty sure that's an issue you're just going to have to contend with like every other f-body owner has since 1993. If the gauge reads 1/2 when it's close to empty, shouldn't you know you're almost empty? That's how I've been interpreting my gauge for 12 years now, so it's second nature.

It does function as its supposed to. It's one of those things that make f-bodies what they are.

My MPH and odometer are off since I have a 93 and to correct the speedo I need to replace the gears in the tailshaft, which I havent done yet.

It won't change how it reads as the level goes down. It will just start at a different place.

Am I seriously the only 4th gen owner that has a correctly working gauge?????

My gauge goes from, way past F to E. Then again, my opti still works too.... lol

Way past F to E is how my gauge works too - that's how it's supposed to work. What everyone cries about is the fact that it stays at F forever, then drops to 1/2 when there's actually a 1/4 tank left, then E is bone dry.

mine works. but i would like to have a digital gauge that actually have the amount of gallons left.

that would be cool. maybe there is a HUD that we can iinstall to do that

Mine does the same thing when I first got my 95 T/A in 97 I ran out of gas a few yards away from the pumps a few times. when it hits E it's too late.

When I first bought the car, it showed 1/8th tank and wasn't enough to start it and keep it running. Fun troubleshooting after I bought the car with known miss and issues and the wife asked if it had gas.... lol OF COURSE IT DOES... SEE!

I pulled the tank this winter to replace the pump and it showed 1/8 tank. When I poured it out, I had roughly about 1.5 gallons.

No different gauge is going to help, unless it can actively re-scale the readings from the float to make them represent the actual fuel level.

You can always trade up to a 98+ LS1 car ....the gas gauge is actually pretty accurate in my 99...you can even drive 20+ miles with the "check gauges" idiot light on and the gauge on dead E lol.....not so for the 94; 1/4 tank means only fumes left lol....do LT1 cars even have a "low fuel" or "check gauges" light like LS1 cars do? If so mine has never worked

Interesting...I found a similar thread....looks like only one guy with a 97' car DOES have a "check gauges" light for low fuel but nobody else with a (even other 97' cars) LT1 has it. It's a nifty feature if you aren't paying attention to your gas gauge on a long trip or something:
