Default Replacement oil ring way different.

Hey guys a while back I decided it was a good idea to bend my oil ring on the piston during install. Anyways ordered a new one from sealed power and the actual oil ring is much different from the other 7. Here are some pictures.

Top ring is the new one. All the others look like the bottom one.

Installed on the piston. New one is on the right. Other 7 are like the one on the left.

So installed its different. It also has a has a red and blue mark on the ends. They do not want to sit flat. One side wants to over lap. You can reset it back but just about any small bump and it will jump back. Picture of the marks.

As you can see it would not even sit still long enough to take the picture.

So should I just toss this ring set and order a whole new set. Found some information on sealed powers sight. Seems they are two different types. 7 are the MF style and the new one is a SS50 style. Ordered both off rock auto for this car. Both are supposed to be a premium ring sets.

Link to sealed powers site.

So should I run this setup or get another set. Or maybe just try to get a new MF style oil ring. Thanks guys.

Well when I ordered the one pistons worth of new rings this is what I got. I was just going to use the locks and call it a day. However with closer inspection I bent the oil expander ring on the edge as well so its useless.

The 'locks' as you call it are the oil control rings. The wavy part is just a separator to keep the oil control rings in place.

I have used the style they sent you as a replacment before. The ring looks too big for the bore if you judge it by the way it sits on the piston. they have always compressed and went into the hole just fine for me. Have you tried putting a ring compressor on it to see if it'll squezee into the groove?

The new one is the better one, the flat wave are not what I like to use.
