Came from Jersey ehh? Where in Jersey. I havent heard of too many wrecked LT1 cars around here and I'm usually pretty in touch with the local LT1 cars...

Building an 87 pickup, if its a cast crank ill put that 383 motor in the truck it will be fine for what im gonna ask it to do. I dont think with stock heads and a shitty cam and stock throttle body that the crank is going to gernade when the ignition is chipped for 6 k rev limit

You give the Eagle cranks more credit than they deserve. Mine broke while idling through a parking lot with no load on it whatsoever. Many people have experienced similar failures. Your cam, stock heads, and stock throttle body will not change the lack of quality/craftsmanship of the crank.

Hate to be a negative Nancy but trust me - it's just not worth it!

Definately. Joe just mentioned his went bad while in idle. And theres no point in having a toy you cant play with

As for the hotcam, its really not such a bad cam depending on the goal. Its just a poor choice for a 383.
From what i understood, you have a stock lt1 in your truck, and the extra 383 from the wrecked car. If your truck is your DD, consider dropping switching the hotcam into your 350 instead. Do a search on it to see what to expect from it. If you decide against it, you should still have no problem selling it since its pretty popular with stockish lt1s.

Well its safe to say your getting bashed hard and everyone has there points. A cast steel 383 crank is poor choice as they have of lately been snapping. When you want to start adding power your going to lessen your chances of it lasting. You could prob sell it off to someone and make some money to put towards that stock motor you have laying around and make some good reliable power for awhile till you want to build up the bottom properly when the that time comes. Id start by pulling the motor and inspecting the motor to see what all is in it for parts. If it for some reason turns out to be forged you might have something good to work with but if its cast get rid of it before something happens.
