His computer is running windows 7 as well. It looked like it installed correctly on the computer but who knows that may be the problem. I cant do it on my computer because its a mac. he is supposed to get on here in a little while. Im just trying to get as much info as I can right now to possibly figure out what went wrong.

When you installed the program did you right click on properties and tell it run compatibility with Windows XP?

the program worked until we tried to read the pcm and it just would not communicate it would just say cannot find pcm

If I recall when you don't the program will open but won't function. Don't quote me on that.

I would probably just uninstall it, reinstall it by following the directions on the CD for Windows Vista and 7 install, then try again.

Do you have the OBD2 connector?

Yes he already had the obd2 cable. What is the switch on the box for?

I believe its to switch between OBD1 and OBD2 connector. I never touched mine. Mine is set to the setting closes to the wire coming out of the box. So the inner setting.

Say you and your mechanic get the pcm to communicate, what changes are you planning on making?

Thats where i was going, its kind of a steep learning curve with this software. You could possibly do more harm than good.
