Default LT4 Hotcam

Is it worth running the LT4 Hot Cam kit on a 1994 Z28 with 120k miles? Just mid length headers, off road y pipe, magnaflow exhaust, moroso CAI and 4.56s. (Would switch to a 2300-2500ish converter in the near future).

Does it change anything if I say my buddy is willing to sell me the kit new/unopened for $200?

I really wouldn't consider throwing a cam in this motor since the new motor is nearing completion in a few months but I can't pass up the price.

Already have it. 236/244 .612/.612" if I recall correctly.
I'll have everything I need minus gaskets included in the $200.

WATCH OUT! Here come the hotcam haters!
On Saturday I trapped 107.93 with the hotcam on stock 1.5 stamped rockers. Not too bad if you ask me.

Then get a couple sets of spark plugs or a case of oil filters or something. Hotcam is fun and all but you have the real deal on deck man.

Everybody knows somebody whose car was fast with bolt ons only, my car is not 'that' car.
I gained 6.4 mph out of just installing the hotcam by itself from my runs last fall.

So by kit for $200, you are getting the cam, springs, and rockers? All new? Hell swoop it up and resell it. It is a nice DD cam, what are you doing with this motor when you swap in your new one? That could help determine if you want to install it, if you are reusing it then by all means get enjoyment out of it now and later.

Thats the kind of deal Im looking for. Use it and then sell it when your ready for your big cam.

If you dont use it, sell it to me for 250 and make 50 bucks.

The hotcam has been proven in countless cars to be a solid performer. My friend ran it for years, and put 50+ bottles through it as well.

^^ What he says, Back in the day, I ran the Hot Cam, bolt ons and a 2800 stall with 342's, Ran 12.6's all day long, Granted for now that design is old technology, but for one on a budget, and if you can get the complete kit for that price, I'd say go for it, and as said, maybe sell it and use the bucks for something else..But 4.56's in an auto

Agreed! I have a hotcam and my car is a really fun DD. Especially if you can do it for $200, thats pretty appealing.

depends when the other engine is going to be done. I ran the hotcam with a 3600 stall (I really wouldnt go less then a 3200-3400) and I was more then happy with it. at full weight, leather, a/c and all the car went 12.2@109. I think if I worked at the suspension harder and went to a drag radial instead of a slick (the bias ply was costing me mph) that the car had 11.99-12.1

^ I trap at 110+ MPH but I have more of a corner carver suspension and plain street tires so my 60' times suck and therefore my trap times suck, but the MPH shows good power.
