503 cam
503 cam near by someone is selling a new 503 cam for a steal. I have a 95 lt1 what bolt ons and pcm4less tune. Wouild this be a good cam to add with the way my car is set up I would retune it but other then that how is this cam for overall power sound and regular driving. thanks
The 503 is a great cam, power is improved across the board.
If you have an a4 you will need a stall(3200-3600) to make the most of this cam, 3.42-3.73s auto or 3.90-4.10s manual....... many people have had great results with the 503.. As far as sound, this cam has a mild thump at idle.

It's a great cam sound is also great put a cut out before the cat if u have a cat, and then it sounds pretty mean and you will def feel a change in power. If its auto need stall and gears manual you pry could get out of getting gears but def should get 411.

I know that's not your only reason. But nothin' beats the grin on your face when you pull up to a light in traffic and people start rolling their windows down to listen to your late model emission controlled car sounding like it has no right sounding.

My cam is almost the same as the CC503. 220 dur .505 lift 112LSA with 1.5 rockers. On just the cam swap I picked up 32 hp and 23 TQ no other changes. As far as sound goes, it isn't lumpy but you can tell it isn't stock either. TQ is strong all the way through 6000rpm.

If u don't have a stall yet, how sluggish will it be off the line? I kinda think it will be better at traction when u stab it leaving a light. But at the track that is a different story prolly leave what .5 on the table? Am i way off or what? Am almost done with my heads and 503 build but no money for stall, so i was thinking of the RevMax 3600 for like $375 pretty cheap.

Of course it sounds meaner, it has a higher lift and longer duration. An older grind though.... I loved the 503 I used to have, great great great torque everywhere! Even as low as 1500rpms! And would run to 6k no problem. I also got a combined 24-25 MPG driving it on the highway and through stop and go traffic.. (plus a little bit of fun too)

I mean sure I would like a faster car but some people go way overboard worrying about 5 horsepower. I really hate the term "goals"
