I hear ya mate... a 4.125+ block would be sweet. I thought Dart was thinking about casting one some years back, but I guess that fell through. The worse thing to ever happen to the LTx was the LSx, cause all efforts immediately shifted in that direction.

Not sure if you were playing with these lil LT1s 5 or 6 years ago or were on another platform, but Dave made a nasty SB2.2 headed 396 back then that would have been really nice on a larger bore motor since I'm sure the valves were pretty shrouded. It wasn't a pure drag car, but still eeked into the 9's on motor in a HEAVY setup, 3700+ #'s. I wouldn't really bother with a setup like that since our little ~4.060 max bore size wouldn't do those heads justice, but it was still a pretty badass build.

I think I remember that car. Wasn't there another guy at CZ28.com with a set of converted heads? Think they were 15º GM heads or similar... maybe ProAction, not sure.

Not sure, but doesn't ring a bell to me. Maybe one of the longer time enthusiasts would know. There is a guy that stopped posting for a while who recently got back in the game named Ellis with an 18* setup and a bunch of nitrous. No clue if it has run yet, but from the bits and pieces of info he posts on LTxtech its a sick build.

Are you thinking of Mindgame? I'm pretty sure he had 15° heads. Now that was a badass street car, he posted a thread about a lot of the details of the engine way back in the day. I wish he posted some pics of that monster.

That name rings a bell. If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he use to post at FerrariChat, had a beautiful 355, a C6 Z06 and that crazy SS. Guy had quite the car collection going. I'll see if I can find some of his posts because I believe there were pictures posted as well, but it's been a while...

Here's the thread I was referring to:

He states around 650hp at the flywheel, and ran ~138mph in the quarter. Incredible car.

That cam would probably only peak in the 6400 range on your average 23* headed 383, but he didn't peak until 6800 and shifted at 7100 with those 15* heads.

Really amazing build, especially considering the wimpy camshaft he was using. Probably a camshaft swap away from 20-30 more HP.
I've been considering my car and I'm not quite sure which direction I'll go. It needs lots of TLC right now, so I've got time to get everything sorted out before really pulling the trigger. A gen1 or LSx swap seems the easier of the two directions, but those are some nasty numbers for a converted head setup....

Since we're discussing all-out type builds. It would be good to put a few things in perspective. Not much else going on around here...
How much HP are you looking to make (NA) and how reliable does it need to be? How many miles of street driving per year?
As a good friend of mine always asks me, "How often would you like to change the valve springs?".
