And I was also wondering about tuning this motor. The nearest dyno to me is probably Nashville or Memphis and those are fairly long distances from here. So are there any places that I could get a good custom tune on a programmer and shipped to me?

i know they make diffrent year l80e. they come out of trucks from 99 2500, and up but hopfulley some chimes in that knows more and youc an get a mail order tune with what you have done.

but if i was you i would look into a ls platform engine instead of dumping the money in a lt1. not to be hating on lt1 i have a lt1 but if i knew how good ls1 are i would have never dumped my money in my lt1.

people with stock ls engine are pushing 700hp with boost

Just stick with the LT1.....it's fine and will make more than enough power than you'll ever need for now. The 4L80E came out in 91' and was used in 3/4 tons chevy trucks. You'll need one from a 2WD preferably.

Yeah I don't wanna get an ls1 right now. I'd like to just stick with what I have. But ifdither find a nice 4L80E, should I build it or are they already strong enough for that kind of power?

They held around 420-450 FT/LBS of TQ factory. But I would still get it rebuilt just for insurance.

That's true. How much do shops charge averagely to build a transmission? I haven't researched anything about that yet

Actually 700HP stock boosted LS motor is child's play....I almost could not believe it when I read the article in Hot Rod Magazine last month 1,203 HP holy F*%@ing Sh#$! on a completely STOCK junkyard 4.8 yes, a tiny 4.8. And they made 60 dyno runs with OVER 25 psi boost and the damn thing stayed together I would like to see a stock LT1 handle 26 psi of boost without exploding I've said it before that LS motors like boost more than LT1's but nobody wanted to believe it here....here's your proof:

we are not worthy oh great LS; "god's motor"!

That's crazy lol. Seems like an LS motor will be in my future one day lol. But I've read on a couple places also with the computer, that guys with OBD-II's have converted to OBD-I's. What's the point of that?

Also, here is the exhaust. Ive never seen exhaust run this way. Wouldn't it be very restrictive? It's just one pipe that comes back into a flowmaster, then into a second flowmaster with the tips coming out of the second one

Tuning you can either go with a mail order, or switch to OBD1 and tune yourself.

As far at the 4L80E Google. There is lots of information.

LTx can lay down over 1000rwhp.

Its okay GMs Gen V engine is being named LT1.

Yes OBD2 is limited to what programs you can use and is expensive.

Switching to OBD1 allows you to run LT1 Edit, or TunerCats which you can get a setup for under 300. Tunercats allows you to tune unlimited amount of cars, LT1 Edit is VIN specific. I use TunerCats.
