quiet exhaust system
I just got pulled over on the way home from the gym. The cop was pretty cool about it. He said it sounded good but was to loud and I needed to get if fixed. He let me go with a warning But told me if i didn't get it fixed he would have to give me a ticket. would a bullet muffler in the strait part of the pipe after the cat right before it goes over the axle quiet it down a bit?
If you want a dual outlet like factory, the quietest I've ever heard is a Dynomax Super Turbo. I think that muffler would get you out of trouble. Probably doesn't flow as good as what you have, but still far better than stock I'm sure. This is probably what I'd do if I were you.
If you want the ultimate in flow and hopefully a little quieter than what you have, I'd try the biggest single in/out Magnaflow you can fit. Still probably a little loud on acceleration, but should be better.
This may sound counter-intuitive, but I'd also give a large 3" single in/out Flowmaster a try, like their 70 series RV mufflers. The single in/out Flowmasters are said to flow much better than the crossflow ones that have the dual outlets for our cars. I've never heard this one in person, but from everything I've seen online they will have a mildly noticeable idle but acceleration should be quieter than a straight-through. I used to have a 30 series Flowmaster on my car with mid-length headers and cats, and it sounded great and was rather quiet, but unfortunately you'd have to track one of these down in 3" because they don't make them anymore.
It doesn't sound like it has a leak but it is possible there is as i had to change the bolts for where the s pipe bolts to the cat the threads where a little shorter. would have to check it out. Other wise i don't see where else it could be leaking.
Ill look for a leak if I cant find one im going to try the dynamo super turbo it looks close to the same length and inlet and outlet so I should be able to bolt it right in. they are cheap enough I am willing to give it a try. thanks for the help birdie this was the information I was looking for.
