More than likely saggy motor mounts has something to do with this, I would replace them with eurathane ones, should lift your motor up at least a half inch.

Wouldn't lifting the motor make this problem worse?

Is it rubbing on the body or the K member? Its common for them to rub on the K member.

yeah its to tight to the car. it needs to drop. not the k member, where the indent on the driver side of the y pipe is. it's so close that it's vibrating on the body the car when the engine is running

Disconnect your y-pipe from the rest of your exhaust and use it as an "extension" to pry the header down. I also had a buddy use a long prybar on the header to help tweek it. Thats what i did and it worked like a charm :-)

Exhaust adjustment as described above... and there is a product called 'inswool' ceramic fiber blanketing you can use to insulate things you want to keep cool from radiant heat, like your brake lines and fuel lines on the driver's side. 2400* on one side and near-ambient on the other, 1" away. Commonly used to line forges.

I remember people here shoving steel wool between their Y-Pipes and floorboards.
