I just did the 503 and headers myself...i have clearance with mac headers. But i had the choice to take mine off or leave it on, i left it on the car. I have a meziere electric water pump on it and my water temps are very very low, so i would also think that my oil temps are low as well. Would someone please tell me why my cooler would be considered a POS. I would think the GM engineers would know something good right? Capricemngr what do u know on this subject? Thanks

I'm pretty sure they did not use these coolers on the LT1 Corvettes, and I believe it may have been due, or partially due, to Mobil 1 being the factory fill. Supposedly, the coolers are prone to clogging. I know when I removed mine, my oil pressure improved dramatically, but I also changed filters at the same time, so there was more than one variable involved. On the bright side, the coolers used on the earlier model Z28s were supposedly superior in design to those used on the later models. At some point, I think GM quit using them altogether on these cars. Personally, I would remove it and not worry about it. If you ever run a long tube header in the design of Kooks LT1 headers, the cooler will have to be removed.
