anyone have any good links to some decent valve covers that will clear 1.6s and not leak. Need some with the notch. any help would be appreciated. i don't need anything like cantons as long as they fit the requirements above especially leaks. Thanks

 

What's wrong with the stock ones?

There are a few polished aluminum ones available on eBay if you like that kind of thing.

 

well I'm in the middle of a 3.8 to lt1 swap so I bought a complete donor thats pretty beat up, needless to say the valve covers are all dented up. I was looking at those polished ones. I'm just afraid they might leak due to how cheap they are? thanks for the reply btw

 

I just put the polished ones on my car they fit good and don't leak at all.

No I don't I think they were like $85 with free shipping. And they have the notch out for the altinator

Ive got the polished GM ones by Proform Jegs or Summit has em You just gotta clearance the alternator a lil Theyre the 141-130 & theyll fit an LT1

 

I bought the polished ones used off of a member and you can get them with a notch cut for the alternator. I had mine powder coated black and they look and fit great. they dont leak at all i think because they are so rigid they seal much better.

the one draw back to these is where you install the gasket is very shallow compared to stock and the felpro gaskets dont want to stay on while installing them. So you can take some twine or yarn and tie it around the ends and center. Then after you get them down and the bolts in but still lose just cut and pull the string out.

Used to have those composite valve covers on my 84 Z28 sbc

 

I found this an issue too, never though of doing it that way, I just rtv'd the gaskets to the valve covers.

My only other issue was that with my high lift cam, stock heads, and comp ultra pro mag rockers, the rockers were hitting the "webbing" in the ebay valvecovers. After grinding away the metal everything is fine, but it was still an issue. Other then that they have been good.

 

The polished ones have webbing aswell? Ohwell seems pretty simple to cut out

 

Its not webbing like the stock ones.

My rockers were hitting the circle dowel in the middle. enough to make it sound like the valvetrain was F-d.
