My car gained close to the same but I used a 120hp chip. They are all over ebay and a good investment IMO. The pricier the better!!!!

I've ran a 12.82 with bolt-on's and a hefty 3900 lbs. It takes way more than any chip.

I wasn't getting defensive, and never said my car was the exact template of what every car with the same mods will run. Your comment was just fairly useless. You can't argue that my car is a much more typical result of around what a bolt-on car would run. For every full exhaust car running in the 12s there are 100 running a full second slower.

Bringing in either extreme in a comparison of mods/ET doesn't help anyone.

Sure it does. There is no such thing as a "factory freak" IMO. It's all about the setup and where a car is run as well as driver skill. It's good to distribute "extreme in comparison" ET's. It informs those not to accept the norm and that it is entirely possible to run better than what is usually posted.
Just talked to Jordon. He states his best was a 12.7 @ 109 in good air (my mistake) and Shawn's was a 12.9 @ 107.

Oh, and:

Buddies 93 ran 12.60@107 with

Headers
Catback
Roller Rockers
Airfoil
CAI
Small converter, like a 2800
"CHIP" (prom)
Can't remember what tires, 26x10 slicks or ET streets I think.

Was pretty hot out, 85+ degrees.

At least 4 others have posted cars with a LOT more mods then the car in question running similar times. Are you saying you think he really ran 12.8s in a car with only a TB and "chip", in an 18 year old car that probably had 140k miles??? If that's not unreasonable to you then you are obviously alone in this thread.

Or, more likely, you agree but you just like arguing semantics and writing things just to see your own posts?

Maybe all he's saying is that it's possible, but unlikely.

What I said had to do with what you stated here:
...it's still a good idea of what an LT1 needs to reliably run 12s on motor.
... and not all of what you did is necessary to run 12's reliably on motor. That's it. Nothing semantical about it.

I once heard of this guy that loosened up his E-brake a bit and gained 52 rearfrontwheelhorsedragpower.

Didn't see the time slip...or have time to check under the hood. Just seemed odd to me with what they claimed...I just let them talk...seemed like they were trying to make his car sound superior to mine

I say you should run him. The outcome will tell you if he is sandbagging or not.

I should have been at the track last Friday night when the freakish land huricane rolled through with the 80MPH winds. If they were going the optimum direction to push my car down the track, I would have netted some nice gains. Maybe I need a weather alert radio to reach the 11's.
