any good odb1 scan software?

i just picked up an ALDL cable to scan codes on my 95 z28 i also have this software called winaldl. i have no idea how to use the software or start scanning. does anyone know how to use this or know of any other software that might be good to use?

i got this too but i need one that can scan check engine codes

You can check codes with Datamaster... its under dtc codes in one of the headings at the top left corner.

datamaster DOES scan codes. Picks them up automatically when you connect.

Start recording,click open file ,select past file or name a new one,click open, click monitor only,Goto view, click DTC codes,click red boxes (if any) and read code..

i tried that i cant get it to read any thing i'm not sure if i need another file to allow me to read

You first need to go to file---record...it will tell you you have so many remaining runs (free version) left. Click ok then a another box will pop up and then select your com port at the top. Then I think you will need to save the file to a name then it should connect and you can view your dtc codes
