I have a 224/236 xe grind cam on a 114 and I've been 12.03 at almost 112 in a 3500lb car. Heads are untouched with 1.6 rockers and intake is untouched but opened up the front for the 58mm TB. Last time on the dyno it made 315rwhp with the converter unlocked.

My friend told me he ran 1.6 rockers under the stock valve covers, but I've heard other people say they couldn't. What's the truth with that?

Many people run 1.6 with stock valve covers. Depends what kind you get. For example the included rockers with the GMPP Hotcam kit work fine under stock valve covers.

I plan on getting the hotcam kit from jegs in a few months for a nice winter build on my car. If its worked for years for many people, it will work for me.

Hands down and proof to back it up is AIs 226/234 110lsa cam. Made 370rwhp with light ported heads threw a M6. Thats AIs biggest cam only cam and the one thing id stick in there. If i didnt have to deal with emissions that grind would be in my motor but im running LEs 223/230 .565 112lsa and it works very nice too.
