no lt-1 heads are reverse flow coolant. This is an advantage for you as the standard smallblock has a much larger aftermarket. Look into a set of canfield or brodix heads with a solid comp cam to compliment them.

Def a big advantage for you... L98 heads should be cheaper also due to this, right?

all small blocks with the exception of the ls1 have the same intake port pattern. This allows our intake to fit on a traditional smallblock. However, the water jackets in the lt-1 are slightly different due to the fact that our coolant flows up the radiator to the heads first, then into the block. This is good for about 10 extra hp stock. When you start to modify them it starts to even out.

so when he rebuilds the motor he shoul get (goal is low 12's or high 11's at the most)should get after market heads....lt1 intake...longtube headers tru dual would be nice...would be a good start...now can he stay with the 10 bolt and just put some money into it i mean he doesnt want to do 9's....high 11's is the most he will go...(car as special value to him).

no it won't just bolt on and the heads won't work that good. check my car domain site for some info on my L98 vette. i also have a LT4 intake that has been reworked for the L98 motor.

my vette is an 87 and is basically stock with some exhaust mods and alot of tuning on a 2.59 gear i pull 1.80 60's times and so far a best of 13.18 @ 105.84 with room for improvement. i'm going for a stock TPI vette record of 12.78 then i'll throw my short block in with my LT4 intake and ZZ409 cam with a 150 shot of juice

Current Mods:
Mostly stock all free mods K&N open air box, MAF descreened, TB Bypassed, 160* T-Stat, Accel Super Coil, 12* degree advance timing, TPiS Long Tube Headers, Gutted Cat, and No Mufflers. Hayden Tranny cooler. Stock 1600 rpm stall and a 2.59 rear gear with Goodyear F1 D3's at 18.5 psi.

89-91 heads are very good especially if you get them reworked. these are the D port 113 castings. with a good cam such as a ZZ9, ZZ409, or Lingenfelter 219 cam, and a intake his car could be in the mid 11's.

also vettes don't use 10 bolts or 12 bolt rears. we use dana 36 rears for auto's and dana 44's for manuals. dana 44 conversion is good for 8's in the 1/4 mile after a fresh rebuild and cryo'ed.

lt1 intake will not bolt on neither will the heads. intake has diff bolt patern also lt1's r reverse flow which means the water jackets will not match up for the L98.
