Ebrake light stays on when not engaged

Ebrake light stays on when not engaged When I just turn the key once the BRAKE light turns off. But once I start the car it turns back on when I but it into gear. (Automatic) I just put a new transmission in it too idk if that has to do with anything. And I just replaced the brake booster. Its not low on brake fluid either. Its my DD. So I need help asap
Sounds like a wire got crossed somewhere. The E Brake light comes on when the E Brake is engaged. If the light only comes on when the car is in gear, while the e brake is down, sounds like the electrical connection is getting power from a something transmission related.
