Well, they will be ported by a local shop, which should give me some crazy good power gains considering that I'm still on stock heads...

Most definetly, what about if I was to go for something like that, or would I be better off keeping the LT1 heads and porting those with a nice cam?

It depends, you'd get more power out of the LT4 heads just from their design, but it's all up to how much money you want to spend and how much power you want out of your car. To some, buying LT4 heads may not be justified in the price.

Btw, thanks a lot for the info everybody

Definetly get the stock heads ported with bigger valves. Will definetly outflow stock lt4 heads by a large amount.

That's the plan... I'd like some AFRs, but I simply can't afford to drop 2 grand on a set of heads.

I picked up my AFR LT4's from Flatlander racing for ~$1600. They have since raised their price: http://www.flatlanderracing.com/afr195cclt4.html. I'm not sure I reccommend doing business with them, because they bill your credit card before you ever get the heads. Anyway, after I received them (about 10 weeks later b/c AFR's are on backorder!!!) I put about another $800 into having them ported. But GM LT4 heads cost like $1200 new anyway. Then you get to spend, probably, the same $800 having them ported anyway. If I had to make an estimate, the difference between AFR LT4 heads and standard GM LT4 heads, after porting, should end up in the neighborhood of $400-$500. Is is worth it? I'll know for sure when I get a dyno graph.

GM LT4 heads are around $6-800 brand new... 1200 is what i'd pay in total with them ported.
