Sucks when you go to work in the morning and the weather is decent but then when you leave something foul has blown in and you have a performance "summer only" tire on that get hard and slick in 40degree weather much less a little snow or water on the road at cold temps.
If there is even a chance for snow, the car will NOT be driven. I only drive to school which is about a 5-10 minute drive. No highways or anything. If there is a chance for snow I can ride with my friend in his jeep. So snow isn't too high of a concern

I like the Mickey Thompson DR's. I have the ET Street Radial's but I've heard good things about the ET Street Radial II's.

Nice pass
I have one concern with the radials. The car will be driven in rain from time to time. DR's don't do too well in the rain do they?

No they don't do well in the rain. A friend of mine had the Nitto's and he said they were a lot better in the rain than the MT's were. We drove his GTO from FL to TN and through the mountains with the NItto DR's on lol. They lasted about 7000 miles.

They do fine in the rain if you realize you're driving on DRs in the rain. You can't expect them to handle like an all-season radial.

There's no reason a 250rwhp car would need a m/t to hook in the street. A 555r would be more than enough and last 15k miles.

Ok it seems like the 555r's are the best. I read another thread on here about drag radials in the rain and it appeared that they were liked by most. I'll probably wait and get them during the spring. Thanks for the help guys!

Now I have another question in relation to acceleration. I have UMI LCA's and when I looked at them, the front seems to actually be lower than the rear or possibly level. Would relocation brackets help with this wheelspin? Would they be worth the money? This is on a stock ride height by the way.

I had this same kind of policy back in high school. Then I let my guard down and spun out on black ice on the freeway. (Lucky break) Get a cheap winter car and stash your f body when average temps dip below 40 in the morning/evening. IMHO

if its your only car id say a nice set of 17x9s with 275/40 all seasons, i think any kind of soft compound tire should be just put on before the track or even at the track, some only last 2000-6000 miles, the 555r may last 15k, for the sake of not only safety but for your wallet. If the tires have good tread i wouldn't go for another set of 16s, just wait for rims and tires.

Yeah as I read more about the Nitto's, I decided against them. I can't afford new tires every 6000-15000 miles. Im a high schooler I think I'm gonna save up and buy a staggered set of zr1's 17x 9.5 and 17x11 with 315's in the back next spring. I might look into a good gripping street tire for them instead of DR's.

Any comments about the relocation brackets?
