this guy...

did you ever try to see if the injector pulses with the corresponding spark plugs? that would rule out the electrical side of things... and would point to mechanical crap.

This might sound stupid, but will it fire momentarily on a shot of ether ? If not, than no ignition or incorrect timing.

Could this be fuel related?
timing evidently isn't good. car doesn't run and pops out of the intake... we keep suggesting you try different things to no avail.

They are corresponding. Sparks and injectors are good. If the cam is at 9 OC TDC then wouldn't that mean its in time. There isn't evidence that the chain slipped or broke a tooth.

I feel like it's ignition timing. It blew smoke rings out of the intake after I let off the key as it was trying to start.

I've went through the whole ignition system. It's not firing at the right time. I'm left with either the opti or PCM. I know PCM failures are rare though

Had a similar instance. Got on it and hit the limiter and it backfired and died. Wouldn' Start again and could tell it was out of timing. Turned out the rotor fell apart in the cap. Rotor screws stayed intact but it is very common that if not locktited they can back out and cause these symptoms.
