Try cranking it in the dark. Bad plug wires will tell on thereself then. Also, I had a coil tower on a cap burn a pinhole through and arc on the brass fitting for the opti vent. It was tiny and we wouldn't have found it if not for the light show. Symptoms were the same as yours so I thought I'd throw it out as another thing to look for. You'll get it sorted out.

Is that new Opti an A/C Delco or Delphi??? Lots of other brands can be bad out of the box!!! Might check the Opti harness too They get crispy & burnt

all the plug wires are brand new, testing the opti and pcm today. it is a summit opti so i guess it could be bad.

Lots have seen bad optis right out of the box......I've personally seen bad wires right outta the box. My car has mismatched wires on it right now, due to that. I have some more, but I'm just gonna wait until I have problems to change them out again. I would test each wire with an ohm meter.

remove the opti and plug it in, turn the key forward and spin the cam-dowel wheel. you should hear the injectors and coil firing
