This does seem like a bit of work just to satisfy my own curiosity. I gotta get some torx bits and some thread locker.

The sensor is legit, and the unit appears new to me. Whether it's remanufactured, I have no idea, but the optical sensor in my unit is Mitsubishi. Now to get this thing back together.

Was checking the availability on these today and noticed they have been marked down another 100 bucks or so to $199.50. How low can they go? I should have waited. The vented units appear to be selling quite a bit faster than the non-vented, which makes sense, I guess.

you probably bought at the right time. with a price drop like that i am sure by now they are using the cheap sensors.

I would assume it's the same part, and that they're just trying to get rid of them. Maybe they have a "good" bin and a "junk" bin.

After searching GM parts suppliers and Summits site it looks like Summit is clearancing the GM performance optis p/n 1104032 and 10457702. At the same time Summit is selling Delco optis at higher prices with p/ns beginning with 192xxxxx. Online GM parts suppliers list these 192 optis as remans for both pin(19212300) and spline drive(19212299). Pobably once all the clearanced optis are gone all they'll sell is the reman units.
$200 is too cheap to pass up on a new GM opti.

That does appear to be the case and I agree about the price. I'm thinking about buying another one. Assuming their website is correct, they had about 90 of the vented pieces and about 70 unvented as of this morning. I've been watching the quantities since I bought mine and they haven't been selling very fast.

Where do you see the quantities? I thought about picking up a pin drive opti incase I ever wanted to convert but in the end I bought another spline drive one.

I tried to add 999 to my cart once, and it generated a message that contained the number they have on hand.

My car is basically stock, but I might someday want to do heads and cam. Do places like Advanced Induction and Lloyd Elliot offer cams for both types of opti drives? That may sound like a stupid question, but I've never really thought about it until just now. I'm assuming the answer is yes.

^^^Cams usually come with dowel pins the correct length for a pin drive opti. If you have a spline drive opti you either tap the dowel in to the correct length or grind/cut it down.
You're pretty crafty on beating Summits quantity system!

I'm sneaky like that. I actually work in IT, so I try to break software for a living. I also figured if I tried to order more than they had in stock, they would just put however many they had into my cart. But I guess they also have a maximum number that you can order. Regardless, I was able to get the information I was seeking.

$199 seems like a screaming bargain considering that the re-manned AC-Delcos are 500+

I guess Summit does not price match their own prices within a certain period of time. I was hoping I might be able to get some money back on my previous order.

Was yours $199? I'm not sure when they lowered the price, but I bought one about 6-7 weeks ago and they were $299, and about $312 with shipping. That's still a good price, but obviously not as good as $199.

I might buy them all and open an optispark store.

There is an article on a Corvette forum somewhere about adding venting to a spline drive unit.

Here it is http://www.corvettefever.com/howto/16758/

This is a great deal... if I had the spare cash I'd snag a couple... I think since thepartsladi stopped ebaying them they're getting very expensive. Thanks for the link!

I wish 1994 wasn't listed under both model Optis. I'm not sure if mine is vented or not and the car isn't right outside where I can check -_-

Unless your car has been modified, it will have an unvented spline drive opti. Beginning in '95, the optis were vented and used a different drive mechanism.
