Have you had your rockers off recently or changed them?

that means that side is not firing properly. check over everything on that side... could also be running pig rich (if there is a cat on that header, the cat can glow if too much unburnt gas goes into it)

You might have a vacuum leak causing a super lean condition. Ive seen that happen on gen I small blocks. The guy didnt torque the head or intake properly and he melted all 4 of his pistons on one side of his engine.

Holy ****, come on guys, read what he said. ThorR is the only one who thought before typing.
"the back of the pssgr side exhaust" a misfire on #6 or #8 plain and simple.
No need to complicate it.

ok so i rechecked my wires and there ok. There is no ses light on and the car runs great. Doesnt feel like there is a miss, and its really only # (8) that gets hot like that. The rest are fine.

How did you check the wires? A good resistance reading doesn't mean the wire is good.
If you can't spot anything obvious with either end or with the insulation, replace the #8 plug and wire. That will probably fix it; if not, I'd say it's a toss up of:
1. the #8 connection inside the Opti
2. #8 injector dribbling when it's supposed to be closed (would be most noticeable at idle).

i had this happen to my 98 after i went to start it after winter. the battery was dead...then i noticed that my headers were getting hot. i shut the car off and then let the battery fully charge started it again then the problem disappeared. ive noticed it does it everytime the battery dies... second winter and crappy battery. after i shut it off and restart it, it never happens again.... only thing that makes sence to me is computer relearning a/f??? but who knows.....

if the wire was bad wouldnt u think the car would have a noticable miss ? I checked all my injectors berofe i put them back on the car by putting gas in them and letting it sit for an hour and the gas never went down. also its a brand new accel cap and rotor on the opti

I think i found my problem. My belt was rubbing against my #8 wire and made a hole in it so im going to change my wires. is there a bettter way to place the plug wires that go against the pulley bracket? Also what wires should i get for a decent price?
