The LTCC still requires a functional optical sensor within your current Optispark. If your optical sensor is shot, then an LTCC won't help you -- you'd still need to install a replacement Optispark (or at least a new optical sensor) to get the LTCC to work.

By the time you bought coils and everything for the ltcc, the ltcc, and a quality opti you will be really close to what the 24x conversion costs.
The 24x completely does away with the opti.
