Starting to bring the Z back to life (IT LIVES)
So after spinning rod bearings 7 and 8 in my other motor last year, I'm finally getting everything together to put the car back together.
A little history on my car, it's a cali car that's been in MI for a few years now, seen 3 winters and still has no rust at 191k on the clock. I got the car from a dealer, and lost overdrive in the trans within a week.... Picked a trans up off tech for 250 bucks and put a new tq converter in it. A month later the motor let go at the burnout contest. not that hurt about it, as when i was pulling it out almost all my bolts were loose and broken connectors everywhere... Come to find out it's a 4 bolt main crate motor from 96, so that motor is down at the machine shop waiting for a new rotating assembly for a 383 build.
I picked up another 95 Z28 that was wrecked and only has 101k on it for the motor. not bad for 500$ I think. I'm going simple with this setup, I have ordered all my parts for the most part. LT's, ORY, SLP lid conversion, AN steam line conversion, a/c delete, rear seat delete. The car already has an SLP LM2, and 3:73's so this little combo should wake it up and make a fun and very loud street car out of it. Next step is a cam, some rims, and suspension.
I'll be posting up pics as my parts show up, and progress of doing some cleaning of the engine bay and stuff before the motor goes in.

yeah just putting this motor in the car to have it drivable for a while. the 383 is going to be a forged eagle bottom end, LE2 heads and ported intake with one of his cams. Not sure if i want to boost that motor yet though.
For sure a lot of work, but it should be fun. And Thanks

Be careful doing anything with that engine especially with that crankshaft! THey are know to break and have seen many forged cranks crack the snout right off! The engines were even bone stock and breaking on the dyno

i'm not running the cast stuff from them, i've not heard anything bad about their 4340 stuff though. If I have the money I'll go Callies most likely. Probably aiming for a 12:1 CR and E85.

They have been forged cranks as well. 2 down here in Texas have broke and 3 from Chicagoland area have all been forged builds breaking at the snouts. They have **** China forging and cast is worse off.

I knew the cast was **** for any company, which is why I'll probably go with Callies instead. Lethal injection did a 355 LT1 that turned 8k no problem, and a turbo 383 that made 1005whp.

Got a box from Summit Racing today, I'll get pics up later. Also got a email more parts from Amazon have shipped. I can't wait to tear back into things, but it snowed again today....

If i were you i would do a healthy bolt on setup for the stock motor and screw the cam. Your only gonna put a few miles on the motor before it comes out anyway for your 383..

The cam idea was something if I could have got a hot cam cheap before I put this one in. I'll wait on it now, and build my 383 and try to find a hard top roller m6 car.

I have a question regarding an egr delete, I have the 3 plates, 2 of which are installed on the back of the intake, where does the small one go though? I have the pipe and solenoid ones on already, had to open up the holes on the one to get it to fit but no big deal.

Yeah I found out it goes on the other end of the tube. Since I have Longtubes I don't need it. And if I build this motor I'm doing it right. I would like to put a d1sc on it too but who knows. It's going to be a fun bolt on car I know that. I got my headers today, egr delete yesterday and my coolant tube stuff Tuesday. I have pics but can't post from my phone.
