Default Polish or Powdercoat?

Hey guys, I've got a 97' T/A non-WS6 and want to keep it mostly stock for now but still want to make it unique and better than before. With this I have done a little bit of polishing under the hood and am torn between whether I want to powdercoat gloss black or just polish the intake manifold and the big alternator bracket. So far I've polished the 5 humps on the intake, the MAF, ECU casing, A/C lines, Brake lines (High temp clear over them too), Fuel rails, and clamps. I plan on doing the A/C accumulator, timing chain cover, alternator casing, and throttle body. If anybody has input or preferably pics of their LT1 with powdercoated/polished intakes, or even any other ideas please post! Thanks

Polished intakes take forever to do, but look like pure sex when they're done. If I'm not mistaken I remember about a 100 hours of labor statement in a recent thread

Holy cow! I ended up spending about 20 hours on my ECU Case which I did most recently and I thought that was crazy but it really does look awesome. Do you have any pics of whoevers intake that was?

if you have a lot of free time to polish everything and even more free time to keep it looking good once it is complete, then I say go polished as it does look amazing. Remember once something is polished it will loose it luster unless you seal the aluminum polished surface. Even when sealed it will not last forever.

Powder coat looks very nice, is much cheaper to do as far as labor invested and requires very little maintenance for up keep. Just use soapy water and rinse

I had mine powdercoated black and polished the fuel rails. I think it sets off the silver engine bay nicely.

There's a lot of threads with powdercoated intake pics as well. You'll have to search around some.

If you want the polished look without the aggravation of doing the polishing I'd recommend getting the intake ceramic coated. I've had that done for most of my customers when we build their LT1's. It's not quite as nice as a real polish job but it is close. I hope this helps. You can PM me and I can give you the contact info on who I use for the coating.

paint it black, it will help make the polished stuff "pop" a bit better
