Concerns about timing set compatibility are eliminated with the included timing set containing the 1x CMP signal.
Any advantage with the 58x over the 24X?

- Electronic throttle required. The GM Gen IV ECMs don't support the idle air motor function and they require two TPS inputs.
- Flat response knock sensors required. Not a biggie, but you will have to find a way to mount the two knock sensors. Consider the solution pictured below to install into previous resonant knock sensor location(s).

For a high performance application....the GM 6 speed autos aren't great IMHO. I'd stick with a 4L80E if you want a durable automatic overdrive.....or get a 4L60E built by the same people who builds the ones that hold up in a few of the 10 sec. N/A LT1 cars on here.

To offer a "kit", the least common denominator must be established. LT1 engines were available in:
That makes the least common denominator the crank and cam signal components:
Beyond that...
I speak with a lot of people who simply ask, "How much is the 24x conversion kit for an LT1." It's a loaded question and there is no one answer because there are too many variations depending on application.
For the sake of replacement, each component will be available separately. The kits will be designed to work together. Substituting other components (piecing together your own kit) will not be supported or recommended. In other words, if you choose to use a different timing set that moves the crank reluctor out of the sensor range, you will be responsible for making everything work.
- 1992-1996 Corvette
- 1993-1997 F-Body
- 1994-1996 B-Body
That makes the least common denominator the crank and cam signal components:
- Engine timing cover with CMP boss
- 24 tooth (or 58 tooth) crank reluctor
- CKP sensor
- 1x (or 4x) cam timing sprocket with crank sprocket and double row timing chain
Beyond that...
- certain engine harnesses builds are available
- certain crank hubs are available (a modification service many be offered for early hubs)
- PCMs are available
- PCM bracket are available
- coil bracket assemblies are available
- EFILive and HP Tuners are available
- and so on....

Or can you split out and only by certain parts of the "kit"?

Thanks, I'm a big megasquirt fan and up to this point there is only a few options on how to wire it up. Using your basic kit less electronics and harness is very appealing to me for eliminating the opti/pcm

What are the chances ya'll will make a 58x kit (front cover/timing set/reluctors/sensors) for Mark IV BBC engines? I see there is a kit for GEN VI already from EFI Connection and one from GM now too. It would be nice to have this option for the earlier and more common big blocks.

I have long been considering the 24x mod for my LE2 LT1.
Are these changes something I should wait for, or is this something for the hardcore racing guys?
I run a Cloyes single roller which is fairly new, so the double chain is not needed for me.

engine will probably run little better and should see a little better fuel mileage. But the LSx computer you are able to live tune it which is nice and easier to tune from what I have read. And you convert it to coil per plug and get rid of the Opti spark that many have troubles with.

yes....believe all the software for the 98+ OBD2's are live tune. Its not so much the software but if the OBD2 computer is capable of doing live tuning. the 97 LT1's are not. But the LSx are........ they have faster processors and just ability to do it.
