Default New 24x LT1 System - Coming Very Soon

Here's a sneak peek at what's been going on in the EFI Connection workshop.

Click on the image for a 3D PDF of this assembly.

Coming Summer/Fall 2013
  • new billet aluminum timing cover with CMP sensor boss
  • new (EFI Connection exclusive) billet steel double roller timing set manufactured by Cloyes
  • cam timing sprocket machined by EFI Connection for 1x or 4x CMP signal
  • 24 tooth crankshaft reluctor (single row teeth) manufactured by EFI Connection
  • compatibility with 1996-1997 LT1 CKP sensor and 1996-2005 Vortec SBC CKP sensor

This new design eliminates the cam sensor housing and 1x CMP reluctor required for current 24x LT1 conversions.

Concerns about timing set compatibility are eliminated with the included timing set containing the 1x CMP signal.

Please, no price requests at this time. When final pricing is known, we will promptly make the details available.

Now this is a kit I would buy. I was never a fan of the previous cam sensors.

Electric water pump required now?

Electric water pump is required. A new LT1 specific cam timing sprocket with both water pump gear drive and 1x CMP signal was not cost effective.

For installations with mechanical water pump, the existing 24x conversion will be required.

No need to defend your work, I can clearly see the advantages to this kit over the previous setups. This has me very interested, I was only curious about the water pump, not disappointed.

Looks great ! I just sent my timing cover to be modified to fit a 1x signal pickup for my gen 7 dfi.

wish all this was out years ago. If I build another c4 Ill be going this route for sure.. heck if my friend is going to build his ce 96 I will get him to go with this setup.

This has sparked some interest to convert. Not sure about which is better for water pumps though.

The current 24x parts will not be obsolete...and they accomplish the same crank and cam signals as the new parts. The original 24x LT1 hardware will remain in production for two reasons.
  1. Owners with a 1996-1997 GM timing cover will need a solution that seals the optispark hole in the timing cover.
  2. Mechanical water pump applications will require the GM timing set (with no 1x signal in the face of the cam sprocket).

The new parts are intended for those who choose to use a double roller timing set and electric water pump.

not to get off topic but is there some issues with going with EWP? thought I read that someplace and they went back to cam operated water pump.

Any chance of developing a similar timing cover/set for the 58x kit so the LT1 owners intakes won't have to be modified for the 4x distributor housing?

Absolutely. A 58x/4x LT1 package will also be offered. We haven't put together a 3D rendering of this package yet, but you'll get the idea with this SBC rendering.
