We live on Long Island and there is one track and its a dirt circle track. The closest track is 3 hours away across 3 bridges.

This car is all steel with all steel block. 3.08 rear a 3 speed tranny. No fuel injection steel heads and the lt1 was built 25 years later with more cubic inches and a completely different starting point. And all of my mods besides the tranny and cam are bolt ons or just removing parts. The engine was a 900 dollar build

What's neat is the stunt guys put nitrous on the turbo car used in the Smokey and the Bandit 2 movie to do a good burnout.

LOL just race on a back road or over the bridge at night have the license plates in side the car and when you race take them down so the cameras dont get the tag numbers. theres places that you can race safely im sure of it and people in tampa fl race across the Gandy bridge all the time if anything do that. Hell I lost to a good friend racing across that bridge when I thought for sure I could win from a roll race but I didnt win. I think someone is really scared of loosing or this race would have done been done already....

Whether my engine is newer or I have 49 extra cubic inches you have a ******* turbo lol it "should" be no competition . Just putting that put there. A lt1 with a turbo is wicked and make like 500whp easy

im not fighting I'm just saying the bad rep that the 301 gets isn't all true and he runs it on 102 octane can run meth due to the race class he is in

Im not ******* the 301 turbo but the truth has to come out in a harsh but understandable way. Just when you thought GM’s worst V8 was the LT1 or the 305, you are forgetting the anonymous 301 turbo. Poor design engine all around with the poorest designed turbocharger. This engine is not reliable at all. It would take someone with experience with turbos to run the thing reliable. My father owned one and knowing he knew nothing about cars back then blew his motor due to turbo/bearing failure. The motor only makes 190hp with pretty impressive torque numbers but there is no point in this thread being 4 pages long for a NO BRAINER. The only way that 301 turbo would have a chance vs a little LT1 would to throw a 100 shot and hope it'll hold. LT1>301 turbo

well considering that the turbo 301 was faster than a 81 corvette i would say it isn't the worst just not thought through very well and what made the turbo 301 was the fact that it could do 18 miles to the gallon. if they would have been produced into the mid and late eighties there 301 turbo would have been one of the meaner motors of there time. and just to let every one know something the 301 was actually a 302 the only reason they called it the 301 was to differ from ford and chevy. i know my LS car would stomp all over my 301 turbo car
