Either way it's unfortunate. It's so well documented that those cranks are POS's I probably would have bit the bullet and rebuilt it a long time ago. Hopefully it didn't take anything else out with it.

OP, you should be able to buy one piston from your manufacturer. Assemble it on your new forged crank and have the crank balanced and slap some new bearings and rings for measure and you will have a perfectly fine 383.
But that's just my opinion. And it depends on how much other stuff was hurt inside.
