Default 93 motor & trans in 97

Hi all - a few quick questions I was hoping for some help on.

With the 93 being SD versus MAF driven is there anything I need to worry about with swapping in a 93 motor into a 97 other than using the MAF and a PCM flash?

How about the M6 trans? Anything to be aware of? I vaguely remember the internal gearing may be different, but unsure.

Thanks for any help!
Brian

If swap a few things from the original engine over, the engine will work. But you need the front timing cover, crank reluctor, timing set, a long dowel for the cam, and the opti all from the 97. As well as the MAF. Then you need to relocate the oil pressure sender from down by the filter to the back of the block, or extend the wiring. Aside from that the engine bolts in. If you want to use the 93 A4 trans in your car, that's a bit more work. You'll need the tv cable from the 93 as it uses a detent cable exactly like the 700r4. Then you'll need a lock up switch wired up since the 97 PCM won't be able to recognized anything with the trans other than the vss. 93's are bastard year mixing the old L98 computers with the new engine basically. You're better off finding a motor and trans from a 96/97 and saving yourself some headaches with swapping parts around.

Basically what he said ^^^

On late 94-97 LT1s, the dowel pin extends .625"
92-early 94 cam dowel pin length should be .340"
Be sure to check that or you will have issues.

Like Duh said.
Swap '97 timing cover, reluctor wheel, timing set, balancer hub, opti, throttle body, intake manifold, fuel rails, and oil pressure sensor fitting onto the '93 motor. You could either swap the '97 cam to the '93 or just switch dowel pins (not sure how hard it is to remove). The '93 cam is slightly better though. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Thats actually a good thing! It's plug and play with all LT1 years. Except one thing, if thats the original 1993 T-56, it will be a M28 or M29 which was 1993 only. 1994+ had a MN6 T-56. The difference between the 3 is the gear ratios.

93s used 22 pound injectors 94 up used 24#ers Use the 97 Coil and ign module, use the 93 opti with harness peice that goes from the engine harnes to the opti. you may have to remove a rib inside the engines connector to get them together. I'm not positive, but you may have to rig your speedo up. I know the 93 auto cars used a drive and driven gear to adjust the speedo.

Oh forgot to add, if you use the 93 opti you'll need to convert to an OBD 1 computer to eliminate the crank sensor. Doing this will also require you to use a 94-95 knock sensor.
Flash it as a 94-95.
