What would cause crank pulley bolt to come loose?

Default What would cause crank pulley bolt to come loose?

Pulley bolt keeps backing out... Wtf?

Sorry didn't search.. On phone and not happy...

Are you sure it was/is torqued to the proper torque value? Have you used any thread lock compound on the threads?

Yes, did both of those.

And that the dampner is not separating causing a vibration.

I'm sure you know the stock bolt is a single use torque to yield and cannot be resured as well.

The LS series engine's crank bolts are "torque to yield", but the LT1s aren't. The OP didn't say what engine he has....

I have never heard of using thread lock on the crank bolt.

Not a good idea at all. That can cause a hydrolock condition and if the bolt is torqued too much it may strip the crank threads, or give a false torque reading which means the bolt is not where it should be and then it will back out. Do not use thread locker on the crank bolt. Completely unnecessary.
