Default Hvac delete and insulation

Do you guys remove all this plastic stuff - and if I do will it get too hot to have just steel under there everywhere?

This is a drag race only trailer car.

Thanks

Jason

Bump
My delete plate will be here soon, should I rip out all that plastic/rubber on the firewall and transmission tunnel and floor and be OK?

I kept the plastic and made my own plate out of aluminum. I'm also wondering if I should throw something on the plate for insulation. I probably will soon either way, it's awfully close to that header.

Thanks guys I think I will keep that firewall plastic then, for the few pounds it is it will be nice to not melt stuff.

Did you use the same bolts that you took out for your plates or new bolts and nuts?

I used the 4 bigger bolts that bolt to the firewall from the inside and then just got enough nuts, bolts, and washers from the hardware store to fill the rest of the holes.

If its a drag only car, remove it all. And it does not get that hot with the hvac delete plate on there to melt anything.

I ripped out everything, it makes getting to everything ALOT easier. I decided to get the UMI block off plate cuz it came with nuts n bolts and it is a nice solid clean piece

Mines been gone for a while, and with no dash, carpet or firewall insulation it gets HOT in the car in the staging lanes. My wife's heels actually melted to the floor in traffic one day. You can hear every tick pop and rattle from the motor too, which I like.
