Default Transmission fluid - 6 speed

Hi All,

Starting to work on my build this weekend and just got my 6 speed out of a 95 Z28 delivered dry. What fluid should I be using and how much do I need, and are there any required additives I need?

I was looking at:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/na...0333/overview/

Thanks for any help!

Brian

You can just run Dex III. If you're an absolute pefectionist and content on getting OEM stuff, here's the p/n to get at a dealership. 88861800 @ $7.86 qt.

Redline DTF ATF. its the best for the borg warners. I've had it in my 95 T56 for about 6 months and i love it!

D4 is very good stuff but I could not get a 'yes" on using it when I talked to D&D. It is synthetic and "some" synthetics react to the paper based blocker rings. This reaction, if any, would not be immediate.

I believe the non yes was because it just wasn't tested over a long period of time by D&D, or TREMAC,to vet it.

This. Tried a bunch of fluids and always went back to this. Turns a notchy transmission into a smooth one.

I followed Brent Frankers handy little guide here:

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/lubeoil.htm

And used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. So smooth.

Good point, I did a lot research before I finally changed my fluid to Redline. Overall for the borg warners (which there dosent seem to be alot of info on) Redline had many more positive reviews then negative. So far its working out great for me *fingers crossed*

One thing ill add though, when its cold the shifting is notchy but as soon as it warms up a bit its like a hot knife through butter!
