700r4 in a 95 z28
My 6-speed needs a new 3/4 shift fork, but I don't have time to right now to deal with it.
I have the 700r4 from my 93' sitting in my garage with all the parts.
What issues would arise if I threw the 700r4 in there(4L60e without the electronics) in there while I deal with the 6 speed?
The only issue I see is the speedo, which I could use my gps for.
I know this is a weird question, but it has been a long project. I'm running out of time before classes start and I just want to drive it!!!!

The tv cable needs to be attached to the throttle body to allow the trans to function properly. If you had a 93 throttle body it should work just fine. The speedo plug should be the same on the trans so it'll work just be off slightly due to the gears being different then what came in the car. The other issue would be the lock up on the tq converter, and a trans cooler. If you so a search there are easy ways to get the lock up to work with wiring and a switch. Either way, its a lot of work just to drive the car. I would say fix the stick and leave it be unless you really plan on swapping to an auto.

I'm pretty sure the VSS is different, so not sure if your fans will cut off at highway speed like they are supposed to. No clue if running them at speed would strain and damage the motors. Don't think anything too important in the computer is tied to mph, shift points will be controlled by governor weights in the tranny.
Can't say I've seen many swaps from the 4L60E to the 700R4 so I'm trying to think of reasons why it wouldn't work but none come directly to mind.
I would check with someone like Ed who would know how your 95 PCM would react to not knowing vehicle speed.

The car will run like junk without seeing speed. I know this since I'm experiencing it with my 93 until I can get an ECM reman'd. But depending on the plug used for the t56 vss, you may be able to plug into the vss in the 700 assuming it has the electronic and not the cable drive. If the plug is the same, use it and let us know what it says. Nothing like a little experiment.

All years of the T-56 will work correctly. The 4L60 has removable gears for speedo calibration unlike the 4L60E. But I think the VSS plugs in the same, it just might not be accurate is all.

I decided to go ahead and fix the t56, and should have it back in by the end of the week.
Turns out it was the infamous "wallered out 3/4 shift fork hole" (if ya know what i mean )
Just waiting for my parts to come in so I can put the bitch back together!
