Ebay SS Long Tubes
#42
These are nothing like the ones "we" are ordering. These are a cheap knock off and if you cant tell the differences just from the pictures (ie collector, flange) then you shouldnt even attempt to install headers on your car and have a shop install them. Just my $0.02

I haven't got them in the car but mocked them up on my new motor today to see how they fit. The driver side header went on no problem but I had to slightly open up the bolt holes on the passenger side to get the header to bolt up. Not sure if these pics will help or not but figured I would post them up. Im hoping to have the motor in the car in the next couple of weeks and will post how the headers fit when I get them in

i installed them they fit great, no issues as of yet did rub the harness for the oil filter thingy. (for lack of a better term) but I haven't made my h-pipe yet so no need to look into it as of yet.

Got my old school sbc in the car today and installed the longtubes and it wasn't bad at all. The hardest part was getting plugs 5 & 7 back after i took them out for the install. The passenger side header went in without a problem from the bottom and all the plugs were easy to get back in from the top. For the driver side I removed the bolt from the bottom of the steering shaft where it hooks to the rack and slid it up and installed the header from the bottom also. I took a 10 mm wrench and ground the box end down so it fit on the bolts and it make the install a breeze, I also used a 10mm 1/4 drive socket for the driver side bolts that were tough to get a wrench on. The headers clear the steering shaft, give plenty of room for the oil filter, all in all I would say for the money you cant beat them!! I haven't got a chance to try the included y pipe but that will be next in line sometime. I took a couple of pics during the install but its hard to see the actual clearance that they have. Hopefully this helps

Finally got my motor fired up and the driver side header had a pretty bad exhaust leak at #1 cylinder. There was also a leak between 4 & 6 on the passenger side but wasnt near as bad as the driver side leak. I used the gaskets that came with the headers so I am going to get a better set and see if it seals it up better. I will post what I find out. Anyone else had issues with them sealing?

Did you put a straight edge against the flange to test for straightness before you installed? Could be that's why it's not able to create a good seal, I've heard of a few people who needed to belt sand the mating surface on the header with previous ebay headers..
The gasket my ebay headers came with looked terribly made so I went with the felpro 1406s; pretty much the best and most popular header gasket for LT1s

I finally got around to installing mine. the fitment... well.. it's amazing! they're big headers and there's no clearance issues at all. plus the collectors are tucked up nice and high. both headers had to go in from the bottom. so if you're doing it without a hoist, you'll need a lot of blocking to get the car up high.
all plugs went in easy except #5 which I had to tighten with a regular 5\8 socket and vise grips. it would have been easier if I tightened the header up after I put the plugs in.
the gaskets that come with them are junk though. I should have bought some copper ones. but most headers come with crappy gaskets.
it was a big job. but that's more of an lt1 issue than the headers themselves. it takes a long time to do it right-- deleting the AIR, EGR, re routing wire harnesses to be safe, etc. but everything is much cleaner and easier to work on with this junk factory manifolds and AIR gone.
