They sell block off plates or you can JW weld in plugs or weld the holes shut. If an LT1 car though I would keep the injection and if a retrofit I would use a Gen 1 over the LT1.

OP

As noted by caprice you can get a block off plate that covers the Opti hole on timing cover. I am using a LT1, carb motor, for a 70 Nova. The cover bolts to the 3 places Opti does and has a timing marker cast into it. I didn't want to do the plug/JB weld thing.

GM Performance Part #'s

Frt. cover plug 12367600
Intake manifold (LT1) 24502592
Intake manifold gasket (for 4-barrel intake above) 12524653

I am using the LT1 water pump but you could go electric and either just leave in the wp drive gear or pull it and plug that hole on timing cover. If I deccide to go EWP on the Nova I will just leave the drive gear in. Been that way for 13 years on my SS car

The part # for the LT4 carbed manifold is diffrent. KW notes he has one + LT4 heads (must use with LT4 manifold) for sale

I see LT1 carb & FI motors in older 50-70 cars. My buddy has a 57 Chevy panel with a 95 F-body LT1/T56.

****** I didnt wanna bring this back from the dead but see that you are still an active user so Ill give it a shot. I am planning this conversion with a 96 LT1 and am going to use the blockoff plate for the opti and use the factory water pump. I see some recommend the use of a new harmonic balancer, is this for timing mark purposes only or some other reason?
