Default 97 GMC 1500 w/95 vette lt1

Ok I'm gonna make this short.. I put 95 vette lt1 with t56 in my 97 gmc 1500. Completely rebuilt the engine and trans. Engine bottom up had crankshaft turned and balanced, high volume oil pump, double roller timing chain, bored .040 new pistons, scat rods, crane comp cam .510, 1.5 comp roller rockers, 36lb. Injectors 58mm throttle body hooker long tube ceramic coated headers. It has some chrome. I tried not to over do it. Here's my dilemma. My engine with its 95 Pcm needs to be able to work with my obd2 system. I've read on here that I need a 96 or 97 Pcm and have to re pin it. Then delete rear o2s, ckp, cmp and knock sensors.

This was an illconceieved idea from the start and when you say things like high volume oilpump and "crane comp cam" you make it really easy to presume you made a lot of very bad choices that we commonly see like lowering compression. 1.5 rockers on such a low lift cam just further reenforces the presumption you likely did just about everything wrong. The fact you give one lift number as a cam spec again says you are clueless.

Then when you say things like deleting the knock sensors it sounds even worse.

What is going on with the waterpump? Is that a decorative cover? If so what timing set did you buy to mechanically drive the waterpump?

You should have asked a LOT of questions before going down this road.

Far as the computer, based on the longtubes and wish to delete the rear O2s is it safe to say inspection is not a concern?
How about tuning? Might pick a tuner and ask him what pcm/combination he would like you to use.

Yes I did this blindly and truly should have asked questions. I'm not proud of what I've gotten myself into. Advise is well taken at this point.

you put a OBD1 controlled motor in a OBD2 truck. Contact a tuner to find out best direction to go. many have run OBD1 conversions in OBD2 cars

Do a search obd2 to obd1 conversions, and grab an obd1 PCM from a junkyard, and make it obd1, as the tuning software is free and it's apparently easier to tune. Beautiful engine bay by the way, looks like a cool swap. Also good to see you have thick skin, there's a ton of info on here, as long as you are not easily offended or chased away. Just keep asking questions and reading. I'm guessing you have a cc305 cam, which is .510/.510, a pretty old/mild cam, there would have been much better suggestions.

Thank all of you for your insight and criticism. Since the only tuner guys I know are the guys from Pcmsforless.com in Ohio that is the direction I will take this.

Personal opinion is that you should run the 0411 ECM. It will run the LT1 way better than either the stock Vette ECM, or the truck one. Infinitely more tunable too. Should cure most of your troubles-except maybe the mechanical ones....

unless you are hell bent on running the lt1 intake there are solutions......run the 411 pcm if you are going over 5500rpm, if not the L31 black box tuned right will work, I just did my 98 with a lt4 cam and tpi intake runs great, your easiest option to keep the emissions police happy at the sticker shop is the 411 pcm with a vortec dizzy in a sbc efi intake, find a good tuner and you are good to go, are you near RI?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/tinbender59/11335691275/P.S. next phase is going for 350 hp+ and 450 ftlbtq+ with cam, injectors, exhaust, and maybe a 58mm TB. should be able to get close

No need for the TB, or injectors if just a cam. Good job! I'd like to stick an LT1 in a square body one say.

TPI was the best truck intake that was never available in a truck. It's good to see some of ya'll using that system.
