Worth camming my WS6?
I have a 96 WS6 6speed car with 53k on it. Do you guys think its worth building or just leave it how it is. i have installed longtube headers off road y pipe, cat back and got it tuned. i was thinking about doing full bolt ons with gears and the cc503 cam. i wanna make at least 350 rwhp. what do you guys think?

That is a beautiful WS6. I don't see why not? You're probably at about 290 or so with your current mods and CC503 would get you to your goal as long as you use the correct springs and get a good tune.
Where in Iowa are you?

Nice clean WS6 you have there, good to see another Iowa LT1 car. Your goal of 350 isn't out of the question with the right setup with supporting mods. IMO do not go with too large of a cam if your are not willing to spin the engine higher than 6000 RPM. When I was running my CC305 cam I shifted at 6100 and it made 340 through a stalled auto will all the bolt ons and ran 12.30's in the 1/4 mile. Talk with Advanced Induction or Lloyd Elliot at tell them what your intentions are with the car and they should be able to set you up.

Another Des Moines guy here (currently in Ames for college). PM me if you need a couple guys to help. While I'm not mechanically inclined myself, I know a few local fbody guys who could probably help you out. The nice thing about the Iowa GM scene is that there are always some friendly guys willing to help somebody out.
As somebody else said above, keep the stock parts and have at it.

I would say go ahead and throw a cam in it. I am in about the same situation as you. My SS has around 55K. I kept it stock for ever thinking it would be worth some money being original and got bored with it. Mine basically sat in the garage for two years and I was almost set on selling it. Somehow this spring I started getting the car itch and got interested in it again. Ended up getting a good deal on a bunch of parts too. I just finished my header install and Y pipe fab last week and really enjoyed doing it. Drove the car more this week than I have in a long time. Can't wait to get to work on the heads and cam over the winter. Really glad I kept my car. Sure there is always something newer and faster out there, but I think these cars are starting to get cooler with age.

Hey nice looking car, I have a 94 Z28, that I am installing a C503 cam in over the winter, my car has 94 thousand miles on it. I was going to go with the Comp Cam from Summit myself, seems like a good price.

Clean WS6. Reminds me of my old green 97 ws6, except mine had about twice the mileage

Nice clean WS6.
Years ago on my old "cam only" setup I dynoed 358/370 and trapped 114 in the 1/4 on street tires with a 224 degree XE cam, stock untouched heads, stock 3.42 gear and shorty headers.
The cam was basically a version of the 503 with a different exhaust lobe I spec'd out back when I was planning to run nitrous. Turned out the extra exhaust duration suited it just fine N/A though, as stock LT1 heads have restrictive exhaust ports.
So yeah, 350 is very doable.
