I know it's not a camaro but even with my OEM WS6 hood I had to grind the bottom side of the ls1 radiator support.

I unhooked the condenser from the radiator and pushed it down...it makes a decent amount more room but then it is just sitting there not secured...

It's a hack way of getting more room if in fact it is not secured to anything after you do this.

So...game plan change to doing something custom one off once I can find a filter that will fit my application.

I was considering this mod in the future. Sorry to derail this thread, but since it pertains to lid conversions, i've heard that none of the cowl hoods for the 93-97 would even clear an unmodified support. Is that true?

Afraid not, sorry. I just laid the lid base on the metal radiator support and seen where it was hitting and commenced the grinding on the base. Then I assembled everything to see if it would hit the hood and ground off some more still. I'm not going to compromise the structure of the front by cutting metal.

I agree with cutting up the header panel. I was going to take a 3.5" pipe and oval it out to fit between the AC condenser and header panel, but that would need to be narrowed down to about 2" at the smallest cross section. Add in stagnant boundary layer within the pipe, the functional cross section is even less than that.

Next idea is passing a full 3.5" pipe through but notching the header panel in a circular fashion and box it back in with exhaust pipe.
