You can take a LT1 to about 800hp with 2 bolt mains.

This motor ran in my car for 35,000 miles. When it was taken apart the berings showed very good wear. I.E the mains didnt move a bit!

They also built a 10.5 inch tire car with just about the same setup but with a 400 shot and it went 7.70's with 2 bolt mains.. If it aint broke dont fix it!

Mike,

I haven't really heard of a failure due to main bolts. What can happen if the 2-bolt mains are overloaded by too much power output?

Hmm...I know of one shop that won't put 2bolt mains on any 450hp (fwhp) motor. It also depends on your revs. Since most LT1 guys are low revvers (7k), its not as big of an issue until you start making some power.

800hp? I'm not an engine builder, and quite frankly, I've never built an engine with 1/2 that much power, but from everything I've read (not just web boards ) that sounds high. Good luck! Going fast in an Impala? You are definitely nutso

The car went 10's for about a year with full interior and A/C driven to and from the track on ET Streets.

And when i say 800hp that is with a power adder..(n20 etc...)
