finally got it all done.
This was a problem on the drivers side. the collector was right in the way of the bottom of the car.

Problem solved.

Next...the y-pipe for an LS on a LT. The y pipe itself fit rather well, we didnt have to cut any pipes at all. The only problem is the clamps didnt seal the connections well so it leaks now.

This is the connection from the 2.5 Y to the 2.5" exhaust. We went to advance and bought a 2.5" ID pipe and it slid inside it, so we clamped it down and it worked.

The steering knuckle was rubbing on the header so we pulled the knuckle off and hit the pipe with a hammer, problem solved!

This was also a problem, this connection slid out when clamping the exhuast down, so we slid the pipe back from the collector to give us more length to the connection and we clamped it down.

After this is all done, we are going to get a shop to weld ALL of the connections cause you can hear the leaks. But on a scale of 1/10 on the headers, 9/10! The y-pipe fitting 7/10 but it DOES fit.

Glad to hear...

1. We will look into the Knuckle issue. It could also be warn out motor mounts. Either will look into it.

2. Usually we recommend cutting a 1" slot on each connection point on the Y-Pipe. It allows the female side to clamp down on the male. We plan on having that revised down the road, but it should get rid of most of your exhaust leaks.

Sounds like the LS1 Y-Pipe fit for the most part. Thank you for taking the time to test everything out for us. Appreciate it..

Thanks
Sean

Thanks WCT13 for the install pics. I just came in here to ask if someone could take pics of it installed.

What does spark plug access look like on driver side and passenger side? Can anyone get a pic?

Also, be careful with those band clamps facing "down". Rotate them 90* so they don't catch on anything.

Spark plugs are better then the manifolds. You can reach 1,3,5(if you have small hands), and 7 with little effort.

Now, the pass side is a diff story, still, better then manifolds, if the start is off, you can reach 4,6,8 and you have to do 2 from up top.

The clamps are just temp, im prob going to get it welded on so I dont have to worry about them.

Well I already have Pacesetter L/T's but was curious how the routing of these pipes may differ from other brands.

Can you snap a pic from the top on both sides?

I loved my GTO with L/T's....that pipe routing gave you amazing room. But then again, different engine and engine bay lol.

You will need Headers & Y-Pipe to connect to your factory exhaust.

Thanks

Any update on the install issues WCT13 had, Speed Engineering?

Also...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LT1-Camaro-F...e=STRK:MESE:IT

"LT1 Longtube Headers (Camaro & Firebird) 1998-2002 F-Body "Stainless""

should probably change that to 93-97

Also, I noticed...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LT1-Camaro-Firebird-Longtube-Headers-Y-Pipe-Race-Version-O2-Extensions-/261459438597?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ce0326c05
$430 is a great price. I hope to do this soon... way cheaper than some other brands (~$200 less than someone else making them that I know of...)

What about placement of a cat with this? I assume the cat would go right after the Y? I would be using one for NJ inspection to be happy. They just plug in and check under the car for a cat from what I can tell

I'm thinking about picking up a set of these, anybody have any updates on how they are holding up? Any other installed pics of the y-pipe connection?

Mine seem to be doing great! Y-pipe is now tack welded together with slp right out the back. It wouldnt hurt if you had a welder to weld it together...

BUT the steering knuckle issue, I took the knuckle off and grinded down the oval part where it was rubbing, works like a charm now!

Cool, good to hear. I have a welder so I can tack it together no problem. From the pics it looked like the pipe used to connect the y to the catback was angled a little. I'm looking at putting a highflow cat in that spot so I'm not sure if that would be a problem or not.

Would a ls1 knuckle help?
