If they are the OBX headers I am thinking of they are 389.00 plus 50.00 in shipping = 439.00. Our headers are only 229.99 & 20.00 in shipping. Either way the only fitment issue we have really seen on some cars is the steering knuckle is pretty tight and rubs sometimes. The ones that have had the issue I believe just run an LS1 steering shaft from what I have heard. We haven't had very many complaints on the issue, so I am not 100% sure. We are mainly going after the cheaper budget headers, not the better quality more expensive Kooks etc. brands.

Thanks
Sean

What's the latest on the LT1 headers/Y Pipe? I'm about to purchase some for my 96 SS.

I put some XS Power stepped stainless headers on my 96 SS a few months ago. I'm pretty happy with them. The passenger side needed a bit of hammering to clear the k member pinch weld, but not too bad.

I've never heard of them. $475 shipped with Y pipe? That's not too bad. Do they get really hot?

I remember I put on some cheapo ebay stainless headers on one of my old camaros and Man, did those get hot.

Ya, I think I got mine on sale for $425. They are identical to the LPP headers if you have seen those. They actually make the headers for LPP.

I was actually surprised how cool they are after driving. I haven't noticed any heat related issues like burnt wires and some of my wires are pretty close.

Looks like i'd be at $360 shipped w/ y pipe for the Speed Engineering ones, and $475 shipped for the XS power ones. 304 vs 321 stainless steel. Can anyone chime in if it's worth it to spend $115 on the XS power headers?

Oh snap. I may order a set then! Do you know if certain size oil filters will have difficulty fitting with Long Tubes?

Any kind of stainless (NEARLY) and salt don't mix, causes Nitrate cracking and it weakens the metal ALOT..

I'd like more information as well. Maybe a guide or pics of the headers installed using the pacesetter y pipe.

Hell no!! No way I would do that! I had the same problem with my stainless ebay headers. My friend heated the end of the header with a torch with a another 3 inch pipe stuck inside and bent it downward just enough to clear the floor board support. While bolted to the engine.

So i've done a couple of header installs on the LS1 but never on an LT1. I'm planning on buying headers soon. Can anyone else think of anything else I'd need or anything different instead?

-headers/ypipe
-felpro 1406 gaskets
-stage 8 locking header bolts
-taylor pro 74039 spark plug wires
-ngk tr55 spark plugs

Anything else I should do or need during the install? I believe the previous owner swapped out the motor mounts already.

I would instal NEW motor mounts. Read about all others issues.
Things that will help you:
Disconnect the batterya!
Remove spark plugs
Temp switch
Fan switch
Alternator
Remove valve covers
Steering knuckle
Motor mounts
Be patient, ask many questions
