with cali smog i'm going to bet you get a mild cam and heads then spray your way to 450rwhp

if your car is totally stock then you have a lot of work to do.
you'll need:
headers (shorties because of cali smog)
58mm throttle body
portwork on intake manifold
ported stock heads or ported aftermarket heads
roller rockers
pushrods
gaskets
rocker studs
guide plates
valve springs
wet nitrous kit

i'm probably missing some stuff but thats most of it

http://elliottsportworks.com/

http://www.advancedinduction.com/

those places can help you out a lot. Lloyd at elliotsportworks really knows his stuff.

this list isn't even including a new rearend to hold the power and an upgraded transmission

I'm going to upgrade chassis and throw 373s out back and et streets so I can put all the power to the ground and go with a 350esh rwh bc I live in california where smog is a bit€%

Dished pistons, and a procharger kit is my suggestion...50 state legal! No bottles to fill, except water/methanol if you want 500ish RWHP. Plus they sound mean!

With a 95 T56 you want 4.10s, the .50 OD soaks up rearend gear.

^True, .31 difference in rear end ratio is not even worth the money or trouble, you would barely feel it, plus the factory gears are quiet, aftermarket ones will have a slight whine. I'd put a girdle on it however to keep from breaking the gears so easily in the 10 bolt. Even with 4.10s it will only turn 2100 RPM at a 75mph cruise in 6th; and it's a big seat in the pants improvement.

4:10s it is 2100rpm will do I was only going 373 just for the 6speeds od thinking that will help it out and make it more useful

^^ Only way I see it getting done along with a big shot just to pass our smog... Also agree with 4.10s I daily mine with a 60+ mile round trip and can't complain at all. Be prepared to break the rear though. After breaking mine a 2nd time I just went with a 9".

Don't get your panties in a wad...well most of them are "incorrectly installed" by that definition; distortion can also play a role; I'll bet the majority of people on here with aftermarket gears installed are more prone to whine than stock ones if you took a poll; your average Joe Blow mechanic is not going to be as good as the GM assembly line. It's also well known that some gear brands (Such as Richmond) are noisier than others. Oh, yeah, the word is "misinformation" smart guy!

4.10s, t56, sticky tires and 450 rwhp is a recipe for a broken rear end. What do you want the 450rwhp for? 1/4 mile or **** around on street tires on the street? On street tires on the street you'll be ok for a little while but on the track 300rwhp and a good launch will grenade a 10 bolt.

I dont care who makes the gears or who installs them, if they whine then there not installed correctly period. If most have whining gears that does not mean there crappy gears it means they most likly were installed correctly. I have heard and seen it many times myself and just shake my head and say leave it to someone who knows what they are doing. Gears is not something most shade tree guys should be doing unless they have done it many times in the past, it takes time to set it up correctly . So you must be misinformedand like to spread rumors and scare people away from upgrading there gears unless there factory gears is just non sence imo. Get your facts straite before you spread it on the forum

Different ways to have gears setup also. Whoever setup the 12 bolt under my car set the 4.11 gears so that under WOT there is better engagement, my gears are noisy mostly under deceleration and light throttle.

Solid pinion spacer helped the most in my case, I literally crushed the crush sleeve.

I'm not scaring anybody, I've got 4.10's and they are awesome, they do whine slightly on deceleration and a shade tree mechanic did not install them, a GM dealership tech with over 20 years experience did; I was suggesting to the OP to get 4.10's; not 3.73's as the benefits don't outweigh the costs with such a minor change. I guess your reading comprehension is lacking as your 4th grade spelling skills if you can't pick that up from the above thread. So you're the one talking nonsense (not "non sence" ) so you get your facts straight (not "straite")!

Guess I better send my S60 back to strange then.....they've whined from day one. My ten bolt whined with motive 3:73s, and my buddies strange 9" whines. I think you're just getting your panties in a bunch.
