Default Hot Cam finally in the 12s

Well after more than 2 years of trying I finally got into the 12s today with a 12.82 @ 109.42 DA 1774. I made a effort to shift faster without letting up on the gas so much. In the off season I added some rear suspension components and a new clutch with a heavier billet FW. It worked out good and I'm surprised at the mph increase. Car was full weight, I even forgot to remove the spare. Previous best was 13.003 et, best mph 107.93. Sorry for the half assed time slip, they were running clocks off today and cutting the timeslips in half so you didn't see what the other guy ran. Also the 1/8 mile clocks were knocked out by lightning a few days ago.

Congratulations on hitting the 12's, guppy!
I remember every one of those XX-sec milestones Some come easier than others.
That's a pretty decent 60' for an M6 car. Street tires or DR's?

Must be a good week to break into the 12's ....my daughter went sub 13 for the first time Thursday night in her 3rd Gen Firebird: 12.91 @ 105, on street tires.

Thank You Pat. I was on some ET Street bias plys. The M6 certainly is a tough nut to crack.

Cardo, I don't know what the car weighs, probably 3750 with me in it maybe more with the S60 lump out back.

~327 hp at the tires. Sounds about right for a mild-cammed LT1.

Thanks 350 and Poncho. Yeah it does suck loosing some HP to the bigger rear end but you got to pay the 10 bolt tax if you want to play!

Side note, I was the only LT1 F-body at the track, must've been 10 LS 4th gens though.

What online calculator did you use to get that number? I looked around and couldn't find a accurate rwhp site.

google "1/4 MILE HORSEPOWER CALCULATOR"

these sites are just bench racing, time slips are the real indicator

I've tried several. This one has always agreed best with vehicles' dyno numbers.

This is interesting. Do you happen to know their formula? I've seen several floating around and was wondering which one is the most accurate. I may just generate my own....

Thanks Mystery Bird I appreciate it.

Pat, Thanks for the link. Also extend my Congratulations to your daughter for getting into the 12s. Her car seems to be working very good. You're lucky to do that with your daughter. Getting my kid to the track is like pulling teeth. lol

Don't worry about the formula. Trust me, it's based on solid physics and fluid dynamics equations, developed by my old buddy George Debski, a fellow mechanical engineer and drag racer, a long time ago. He spent more time on this subject than a totally sane person would!
No single formula is best for every vehicle; lots of assumptions have to be made for aero drag, how well the power curve is utilized, etc. The calculator I posted works best for vehicles that have gearing and converter somewhat conducive to keeping the engine in its power curve throughout the run. If you don't have that, then your dyno peak reading will be higher than the calculated value.

Thanks for the compliment, guppy She was out getting some practice for the upcoming Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk July 30-Aug 3. Last time there she runner'd up in Street tire bracket class.
