I had a local "reputable" shop do the 4L60E once before I began power mods, lasted 16 months and was only at a bolton power level. Then I had Dana at ProBuilt build it, lost count of how many years ago maybe 10.
My current daily driver truck with 4L60E had the local dealer put clutches in 3-4 twice before I bought it and they went right after I bought it (hadn't been told about the tranny issues), got some help from a connection at another dealer and forced them to put in a GM reman and been fine. Truck fried 3 sets of 3-4clutches in 3-4months and been fine going on 4 years since. New parts can't cure incompetence.
A friend bought the rebuild kit used in my tranny and had it assembled locally had it towed back to the tranny shop every couple weeks for half a summer till he went T56 and started breaking the 7.5" instead. With his tow bills and such he spent a LOT more than I did by trying to save a buck building it locally.

A 4L60E that lives behind big power seems to be the exception to the rule...maybe you'll get lucky and it will live but and the end of the day I would sleep better with an 80.
Also, its not like if you spend four grand on a 60e and it blows up you have much to show for it, its basically a pile of scrap metal at that point. This is why I have two 4L80es sitting in my garage waiting to be built.

The question is: Do you need that OD gear?
If not do a TH400 or PG and be done with it.
As for e-type tranny. Like mentioned, There are only a few "Good" builders out there.
My Performabuilt has launched my 4300lbs car, @3500rpm on N2O into the 11's for years now and just recently had to have the TC rebuilt. Still holding good so far.
But just do the TH or PG and run it.
