Oil pan gasket Corvette C4
#2
You must remove the pan bolts. You'll probably be told to fish the gasket into the pan and to the other side, but that is not necessary. Just clean the outside of the pan extremely well with mineral spirits or brake clean and stretch the gasket around the outside of the pan and work it into position. You'll also have to take the dispstick tube out.

I believe most corvettes have enough clearance to remove the entire oil pan. But usually it helps quite alot to remove the starter also for better access to clean and whatever with the gasket & small bolts/screws. And anytime u remove the starter u should disconnect at the batt to take pwr off the larger batt cable terminal on the starter solenoid - prevent any "welding" while removing the wiring.
Pan removal is a good time to inspect the oil pan and oil pickup screen for anything in there/on there other than oil. Becareful of while im at it itis. No reason to remove the main or rod caps unless something is wrong or making noise. Too easy to get the caps mixed up unless u do them one at a time - so dont even think 'bout it.
