I was just wanting to know is it possible to have a M6 console with an auto trans? Or am I dreaming? I know some vehicles can retain the manual look but have an auto trans. Just a thought.......

 

I've seen it done with aftermarket auto shifters. Injuneers car comes to mind.

 

Mine was an auto and I went manual and all I replaced was the center part where the shifter goes, so I dont see why it cant be the other way around..

The top part of the console, the "shifter plate" is interchangeable regardless of transmission type. Why would you want a manual shifter plate? Just to have a 6spd shift pattern and leather boot for an auto shifter Maybe to fool newbs it's a 6spd car? I'm not following your logic, how are you going to know what gear it's it with no indicator? To answer your question it is possible but illogical.

 

it'll allow you to run an aftermarket shifter and look cleaner/more factory instead of hacking up an auto one or using an aftermarket shifter case.

 

I mean its simple to me. I was just wondering has anyone done it. I just wanted to know can you keep the M6 console and still have an auto trans. It will be a manual VB so I'll already know what gear im in. The idea is to have a M6 look and be an A4. I would just switch consoles if I never cared about the "the look".........

 

Like said, the console is 2 pieces. The lower console can stay. You just need a manual shifter plate is all.

Just type in 94-95 camaro manual shifter plate on Ebay and they have them but $119 wow..It just snaps in, I would go to your local wrecking yard and see if you can find one, dont know if the V6's are the same..

The v6 is identical except where it shows the shift pattern obviously but nothing some brake clean won't take car of. I might actually have an extra one.
