Let me bring this to your attention: I am not doing this build. It was a thought, 30lbs was a number I pulled out of my ***. You didn't judge the build, you judged how crazy I was for tossing out those numbers. As I have previously stated, the plan is to go LS turbo, but everyone has been suggesting turbo the LT in it. I'd much rather go LS because of all of this BS.

That much stroke in an LT1 on boost is unnecessary. You need to balance piston height to get the rings away from the chamber with keeping a reasonable rod length.
As was said there is a reason 383 is popular

Touché.. I guess setting up a ProCharged combo on a 400ci+ setup, is completely different then setting up a turbo combo.

What works for a low pass number pure drag car is different from what works for a car that sees a real number of passes. Guys have cracked LT1 blocks by making 700 passes NA at 650hp.

Most of us choose to buy a house rather than build a car as quick as your fantasy. Most of us spend less modding our cars than a car like that requires in maintenance. At that level stock blocks are maintenance.

I'll agree on this point.

You will need to run studs and some very good gaskets to get over 25lb. You might want to look at the combination the won outlaw at the shootout last year. The longblock would cost you 10-12K easy. Even with that being said you could oring the heads, but without the extra head bolts you will have a hard time keeping a headgasket together.

I'd like to see someone put together a 355 on 28#'s with trickflow or dart pro1 heavily ported heads, and an aggressive cam.
